Spanish
A language with global reach, shaped by a culturally diverse heritage.
Spanish is one of the most significant languages – in terms of native speakers and international reach. It is used in Spain, Latin America, some parts of Africa, and increasingly in the USA.

Why study Spanish?
Speaking Spanish allows you to explore the vibrant cultures, literature, and politics of the Hispanic world. It’s also an integral player in international trade, given the rising influence of Latin American countries.
There is high demand for Spanish graduates from multinational employers who value the language, communications, and intercultural skills that are developed through language degrees, which means Spanish opens up a range of exciting career opportunities in fields such as international politics or business, consultancy, sales and marketing, finance, teaching, and translating/interpreting.
Our language partnerships
We work with the Spanish Embassy Education Office (SEEO) to support students who are learning Spanish and to raise awareness of the importance of Spanish language skills.
Our partnership with the SEEO is the first of its kind between the office and a Welsh Higher Education provider.
Our year abroad is extremely valuable, not only for developing competency in your chosen language, but also for your personal development.
