Widening Access to Medicine Mentoring Scheme (WAMMS)

WAMMS is a Cardiff University student-led initiative, which promotes equity of opportunity for state school pupils across Wales, by supporting them and their teachers in navigating the often-complex medical school application process.

By visiting schools, hosting events and providing tailored resources, WAMMS inspires young people to pursue careers in medicine, raising aspirations, and encouraging representation within medicine from communities across Wales.

So far, there have been over 3,600 pupil-to-student contacts across Wales. WAMMS have also held conferences in  north and south Wales, bringing together pupils from a wide range of local schools, and have held several mock MMI sessions to help prepare pupils for their medical school applications.

How you can help

Donating to WAMMS could increase the level of outreach they are able to do in state schools in Wales. Your support can ensure that every Welsh pupil, regardless of background, has the opportunity to pursue their dreams and access a career in medicine, and that future doctors are representative of all our communities.

You can support WAMMS by donating to us. Select ‘Other’ from the drop down menu, and type in ‘WAMMS’.
