Statement in response to the murder of George Floyd - 02/06/20

The murder of George Floyd is a tragic reminder of the systemic issues and challenges facing society.

We understand the deep emotions and feelings this incident has surfaced, and would encourage any of our students or staff who have been affected by the situation to draw on the resources we provide, including our Race Equality Supervisory Panel, student support services; and for staff, Care First.

At Cardiff University, we are committed to creating a community based on dignity, courtesy and respect: a community where everyone can be themselves and flourish. Now, more than ever, we must find strength in those principles.

We will continue to use our research strength to help create a better world: by educating, ensuring our voice is heard in civic discourse, and preparing our students to be active participants in democratic society.

We are resolute: racism and discrimination have no place in our modern society.
