Statement from the University on its Highly Trusted Sponsor status

The recent action by UK Border Agency (UKBA) against London Metropolitan University will not affect international students who are coming to Cardiff University in September 2012 and will not affect international students currently studying at Cardiff University.

Cardiff University takes its responsibilities as a Highly Trusted Sponsor (HTS) very seriously. It has robust mechanisms in place to ensure it meets the government's strict immigration requirements and has an excellent history of compliance.

International students are important to Cardiff University. They are an asset to the institution, the city and the country, and are recognised for the many cultural, social and economic benefits they bring.

Cardiff University supports Universities UK in its effort to ensure that wherever possible international students affected by the action against London Metropolitan University can stay in the UK and continue their studies.
