Planning decision deferred - 23 November 2016
The City of Cardiff Council has deferred the planning decision on Cardiff University’s request to begin construction on a landmark building at the heart of its Cathays Campus.
The decision was due to be made at the meeting of Cardiff Council’s Planning Committee on Wednesday 23 November but the Committee has now postponed the decision for a site visit.
The Centre for Student Life is a £50m investment proposed by the University to enhance the student experience. It will create a central hub for student support services at the University as well as offering modern, flexible social learning spaces and a technology-rich 550 seat lecture theatre.
A Cardiff University spokesperson said: “Cardiff University is committed to creating the very best experience for our students. We are looking forward to moving forward with our plans for the Centre for Student Life, and welcome a decision from the Planning Committee in due course.”
