Research

We research heterogenous catalysis, a key technology in many large-scale, industrial chemical reactions, such as the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

The main themes of our research cover catalyst design, with applications in

  • carbon dioxide hydrogenation,
  • direct hydrogen peroxide synthesis and Cooperative Redox Enhancements (CORE) of supported bimetallic catalysts
  • acetylene chemistry comprising the production of vinyl chloride monomer
  • selective acetylene hydrogenation with bimetallic nanoparticle catalysts.

These projects are supported by researchers in the areas of computational theory and advanced (operando) characterisation.
