CReSt: the cancer research strategy for Wales

Launched in 2022 by Wales Cancer Research Centre, CReSt is the first national cancer research strategy for Wales.

It outlines the key principles, current infrastructure, issues, and priority research for cancer research now and in the future.
CReSt will co-ordinate and connect people from all areas of the cancer research community and will work toward building an evidence-based approach to cancer policies and health and care services.

Key focal points will be areas of research where there is already a track record of collaborative working, excellence, and sustainable workforce investment.

Aims of the strategy

1. Develop a collaborative, efficient, well-supported and focused research community.
2. Increase research grant income from all sources to expand the research base.
3. Improve prevention, diagnosis, and treatment for all patients with cancer.
