The Health Library is located in the Cochrane Building and contains collections on nursing, midwifery, allied health, medicine, medical and biological sciences.

Christmas 2024 recess
Health Library is open 24/7 over the Christmas period.
The enquiry desk will be staffed until 16:00 on Friday 20 December 2024 and re-open at 08:30 on Thursday 2nd January 2025.
During this period access will be via the South door of the Cochrane Building (to the right as you approach the building). You can swipe in with your library ID card or will be asked to show your C&VUHB ID card.

About
The Health Library is located on the ground, first and second floors of the Cochrane Building on the University Hospital of Wales (UHW), Heath Park campus.

Library skills training for staff and students in Biomedical and Life Sciences subjects is also available in the library.

We provide the following services and facilities within the library for your convenience and to support your study needs:-
- Toilets (male, female and accessible )
- Water fountains and hot water point
- Food and drink vending machines
- Storage lockers
- Loanable student and CAVUHB laptops, headphones, charger cables and whiteboard marker kits
- Book swap area for sharing fiction
- Wellbeing area for your relaxation
- All NHS Wales staff may join the library here under one of our membership schemes.
Access
Monday – Friday up to 18.00: use main and side doors of the library on the ground floor. After 18:00 until 07.00: use side door only. You will need a Cardiff University library ID card (swipe card), or you will be asked to show your NHS ID card for access.
Saturday and Sunday: use side door of the library only;
After 18:00 until 07.00: you will need a Cardiff University library ID card (swipe card), or you will be asked to show your NHS ID card for access.
- A lift provides access to all floors of the library.
- There is an accessible toilet on the ground and first floors.
- Staff will retrieve books from the shelves - please ask for assistance.
