Governance

Our work related to Governance is carried out by leading academics who combine internationally recognised research in a wide range of fields, a wealth of experience in delivering high quality teaching and a strong track record of engagement with organisations and institutions engaged in politics and public policy.

From local to international settings, we’re dedicated to exploring continuity and change in institutions, politics, policies and societies within a multi-level context.

We provide an intellectually inclusive and supportive environment for a wide range of methodological approaches to the study of a wide range of contemporary themes, including the changing shape of politics, public attitudes and policy driven by devolution, Brexit and the rise of populism.

Wales Governance Centre

We’re home to the Wales Governance Centre, which is the leading centre for the study of Welsh politics, law and political economy.

The Centre has strong ties with other research centres within the University, such as the Wales Institute of Social and Economic Research and Data (WISERD) and Wales Centre for Public Policy (WCPP).

In addition, it has close links with Wales’ devolved institutions as well as to the UK and Scottish levels of government.

We foster a supportive environment for research and research-related activities, and aim to engage with a diverse range of voices and perspectives provided by scholars, practitioners, policy makers and civil society groups.
