University Dean for PGR students

An opportunity has arisen to contribute to the leadership and delivery of postgraduate research (PGR) activity, working with the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Enterprise, and the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Education and Student Experience. The successful applicant will work with a team of academic and professional service colleagues across the university to provide leadership in the development of PGR element of the Graduate School in alignment with the new University strategy and transformation agenda.
Applicants should have experience of PGR processes, student experience, and research culture, as well as a commitment to developing a positive and inclusive research culture where all members of our diverse research community are able to thrive. The role requires pro-activity and strong teamwork with the Research Service and with colleagues from Education and Student Experience. Engagement with academic stakeholders will be critical. The work of the Dean will also include collaborating on cross-institutional initiatives, linking with teams in the International office and other professional services teams as necessary.
Role
The role is open to any academic member of staff with appropriate experience and skills who can provide dedicated academic leadership to the development and delivery of the University’s PGR provision. Working within the framework of the University’s overall strategy, policies and procedures, the role will include fostering individual and collective contributions to the promotion and advancement of research and innovation. The role is available at 0.8FTE and fixed term for three years. The role holder will receive an annual one-off, non-pensionable allowance of £6000. The start date will be as soon as practicable.
