Advanced Clinical Practice Portfolio (HCT353)

The aim of this module is to integrate advanced theoretical and clinical knowledge required to underpin treatment decisions made in clinical practice at an Advanced Clinical Practitioner level.

The module will allow you, as a trainee advanced clinical practitioner, to assimilate complex decision making through exploring theoretical and clinical aspects of decision-making with a view to critically analyse and develop your existing practice. Using critical analysis you will be encouraged to develop strategies for effective and defendable practice. The module reflects the changes suggested in the Quality, Development and Leadership White Paper (Gozzard and Wilson, 2011), which explains the need to develop a future skilled workforce to drive improvement in the NHS.

Assessment will take place through academic assignments as well as a portfolio of clinical competencies, essential in developing the Advanced Clinical Practitioner.  The clinical portfolio will be devised in collaboration with the Designated Supervising Practitioner (DSP), yourself and the module team, to develop work-based competencies that are relevant to your specific clinical area.
