Y Fflat

Our multidisciplinary practical rooms allow students to practice their skills in delivering a safe, skilled and professional service.

Y Fflat is a simulated home and consists of three rooms:

Open-plan lounge and kitchenette

The larger room in the flat is set up as a open-plan lounge and kitchenette and is often used for case study and multi-disciplinary problem-solving exercises.

Bedroom

The middle room doubles as a bedroom and a space for table top activities. Students can practice transfers to and from the bed, as well as the use of dressing aids.

Bathroom

The bathroom has equipment to practice transfers on and off the toilet, and into and out of the bath from a wheelchair. It is designed as a standard bathroom, so students can work out how to cope with limited space.

Scotia Medical Observation and Training System

The whole suite is equipped with the Scotia Medical Observation and Training System (SMOTS) camera system which allows for video of treatment sessions and simulated practice. This can be used as a learning opportunity for students to view their practice skills and learn from this reflection.
