University of Wyoming

On 25 April 2023, Cardiff University signed a new Strategic Partnership Agreement with the University of Wyoming.

Building on a rich history of collaboration, this partnership will enable collaborative research projects, an annual series of seminars, conferences and workshops, staff and PhD student mobility and collaborative education programmes.

“Underpinning all our international partnerships is the ambition to address issues of international importance while simultaneously delivering benefits to society and our economy here in Wales. Our partnership with Wyoming is our latest commitment to this civic mission and so I look forward to seeing the benefits unfold as our university communities coalesce over the coming years.”
Professor Colin Riordan Former President and Vice-Chancellor

University of Wyoming Collaboration Fund

Through the Strategic Partnership, a dedicated collaboration fund has been established, designed to support staff and students to engage more actively with the University of Wyoming across common areas of research, teaching and education.

The University of Wyoming was founded as a nationally recognised land-grant research institution with expert faculty, top-ranked academics and world-class facilities.

It was founded in March 1886, four years before the territory was admitted as the 44th state and opened in September 1887. The University of Wyoming is unusual in that its location within the state is written into the state's constitution.

UW has more than 90 graduate academic programs through seven colleges and multiple interdisciplinary institutes and schools:

  • College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources
  • College of Arts and Sciences
  • College of Business
  • College of Education
  • College of Engineering and Physical Sciences
  • College of Health Sciences
  • College of Law
  • Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources
  • School of Computing
  • School of Energy Resources
  • Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center

As the only University in the state, Wyoming students get strong support from the State government, including financial assistance for engagement with overseas institutions.

It has 12,000 students hailing from all 50 US states and 82 countries worldwide.

Cardiff University and the University of Wyoming have an active student exchange agreement in place.

Student Exchange Agreements enable the reciprocal exchange of students for a semester or year of study or research abroad at the partner institution.
