Dr Ryland Wallace was lecturer in History at Coleg Gwent for over thirty years, and is the author of the book The Women’s Suffrage Movement in Wales, 1866-1928 (University of Wales Press, 2009), the first large-scale investigation of the movement in Wales. Developing this pioneering work, his paper explores the women’s suffrage movement in late-nineteenth and early-twentieth century Cardiff.
