An online workshop with advanced French speaking students from Cardiff University in discussion with two specialists of French as a Foreign Language: Dr Eglantine Guely, from the Institut National Supérieur du Professorat et de l’Education of Lorraine, France, and Dr Catherine Chabert, from the School of Modern Languages at Cardiff University.
This event is supported by an AHRC Language Acts and Worldmaking grant.
Themes will be centred around:
* Language competences of independent and experienced users, in particular mediating communication
* Language learning in autonomy for life after university.
Discussions will focus on these three topics:
* Round Table 1: Your experience of learning French - Plurilingualism
* Round Table 2: Placements abroad – Interculturality
* Round Table 3: Autonomous language learning – Learning for life.
This event will be delivered through the medium of French and English.
Biography
Dr Eglantine Guely is a lecturer at the Institut National Supérieur du Professorat et de l’Education of Lorraine, specialist in French as Foreign Language and plurilingualism. Before returning to Nancy, Eglantine lived in Brazil for 7 years, initially as Director of the Alliance Française in São Luis, then as a post-doctoral student at UNICAMP. Her current research includes modern language teacher training and the role of digital education in language learner autonomy.
