Subject and information expertise
The team holds a high degree of subject expertise as a result of the longstanding tradition of European information in the Library Service at Cardiff University.
One of the core elements of the Hub’s mission is to make that expertise available to our users, across the university and beyond.
We support doctoral academies, postgraduate students and research centres in finding and bringing together the information they require to successfully conduct their research activities. The team also develops a number of seminars and workshops for students, which can be embedded in relevant modules across different university courses. These sessions include:
- EU Information – An introduction to online resources
- an introduction to the institutions of the European Union
- the legislative procedure in the European Union
- the political landscape in Europe
- an introduction to the history of EU integration and politics
- disinformation in the context of European affairs
Other sectoral, tailor-made workshops and seminars can be put together upon request. This is subject to availability. If interested, please contact the team at the European Information Hub.
The Hub conducts evidence and literature reviews, as well as maps of policy landscape, on matters relating to Europe, its countries and all its dimensions. This service is embedded in the wider Evidence Review Service (ERS) made available by the Library Service (terms and conditions apply).
Members of the team are available to attend and speak at external events as information specialists, and otherwise to engage with external stakeholders. The European Information Hub also hosts an annual series of public events on relevant topics.
