Electrical and Electronic Engineering

Electrical and electronic engineers work at the forefront of technology, developing and improving the devices and systems that we use to process and transmit power and information.

Our students are eligible to apply for external scholarships and summer placements with the UK Power Academy and UK Electronic Skills Foundation UKESF as Cardiff University is a member of both schemes.

The city of Cardiff is full of nice people. It is easy to get around, safe, cheap, and has great nightlife – it ticks all the boxes. The School of Engineering is well organised, and the staff that work there are helpful and considerate. I was lucky enough to get a UK Power Academy Scholarship through my course, which is well worth applying for in your first year. You can do placements with loads of different companies - I did mine with Siemens. It was a brilliant experience that developed my communication and teamwork skills.
