About us
The Data Innovation Accelerator helps companies in Wales to use their data better. We help you identify and realise the power of your data and embrace it in your future activities.
Targeting SMEs, we work collaboratively with companies to apply data science techniques to produce tangible benefits for the business.
We have been part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Welsh Government with the aim of increasing the successful translation of research and innovation at Cardiff University into new and improved commercial products, processes and services.
We are part of Cardiff University’s Data Innovation Research Institute and belong to the School of Computer Science and Informatics, alongside initiatives including Supercomputing Wales, the National Software Academy and the Airbus Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Analytics.
We are also proud to work closely with the School's new Data Science Academy (DSA), which has been launched in response to the high demand for data scientists and the requirement from industry for highly-skilled students that are ready to hit the ground running once they graduate.
Regional support
Our scientists will work collaboratively with companies in the ‘East Wales’ region to address specific short-term business challenges and to explore avenues for future integration of data science techniques into companies’ day-to-day operations.
The East Wales region covers:
- Cardiff
- Newport
- Vale of Glamorgan
- Monmouthshire
- Powys
- Wrexham
- Flintshire.
