We have formed a strategic partnership with the new Biomedicine Discovery Institute at Monash University (Australia).
This partnership is based on established and emerging research streams at Monash, the Hudson Institute of Medical Research and the University of Melbourne.
We are planning a vibrant programme of activities including staff exchange visits and research meetings. Our partnership will explore the application of Big Data science to key questions addressing the mechanisms that underlie inflammatory and infectious conditions.
Topics of ongoing collaborative studies include the molecular determinants and biological relevance of immune receptor interactions in health and diseases such as cancer, autoimmunity, infection and atherosclerosis.
By adopting experimental model systems, bioinformatic approaches and observational clinical studies, our joint investigations have identified fundamental mechanisms of disease progression that contribute to improvements in diagnosis, patient stratification and treatment.
Our collaborative efforts have already led to a number of high profile publications in journals such as Nature Medicine, Nature Immunology, Immunity, Journal of Experimental Medicine and PNAS, and to the exchange of research staff between our institutions.
