Sucha graduated from Thammasat University in Thailand and during her bachelor’s degree. Her major was International Business, Logistics and Transport which concentrated on Logistics.

Tell us about your course. How is it different from studying back home?

The Logistics and Operations Management programme at Cardiff University allows students to decide their own course, offering lots of optional modules. In my opinion, some of the knowledge in this programme is similar to my previous educational background, but the way of doing assignments is different from my bachelor’s degree. I’m encouraged to deeply research each topic while presenting my idea through essays. Moreover, the group discussions and tutorial classes provide opportunities to review your understanding with both classmates and lecturers.

What have you enjoyed most about studying at Cardiff University?

Besides gaining new knowledge, studying at Cardiff University gives me a good chance to make new friends from other countries. It is so funny when we share interesting perspectives and different experiences with foreign friends. Then hanging out sometimes with Thai friends make me feel like living at home.

What is the best thing about living in Cardiff?

For me, I would say the no-hustle lifestyle of Cardiff is the best environment for studying. I prefer cities with less traffic jams and enjoy the wide areas of natural space in Cardiff. In addition, there are lots of students living alongside local people in this city and you see student life all around you. It makes me feel comfortable and relaxed when living far away from home.

Are you a member of any clubs or societies? If so, what’s it like to be part of a society?

As a Thai Government scholarship student, I have to focus on studying in the first instance. However, I love traveling, so I spend lots of my free time travelling around the UK and Europe, and I hope my experience will be helpful in the future.

How has the university supported you during your time here?

I love the facilities and student support system here! Cardiff Uni delivers both educational and living support for all students, with a special sector dedicated to International students. There are lots of working spaces available everywhere and at any time (24/7 library, computer labs, common rooms, etc.), including a special building and study zone for Master’s students. We can usually also access the University services online, using applications and the website.

What would your advice be for prospective students thinking about coming to Cardiff?

Be clear about your own passion. Master’s degree courses will force you to deeply study a specific field. After knowing what you want to learn, Cardiff Uni’s website gives useful information, contact details and ways for you to find out what exactly they offer to you. In Cardiff Business School, before choosing optional modules, we have the chance to sit in the classes during the first week. I think knowing the details of each module and the different teaching styles is the best way of making the right decision.

What are your plans for the future?

When I complete my Master’s degree, I will go back to Thailand and use my new knowledge, skills and abilities to work within the Thai government department who are sponsoring my education here at Cardiff University.
