Why did you choose Cardiff University?
Cardiff University is a part of the Russell Group, which assures a good education and the best support.
Also, I was looking for a course that specifically focused on megastructures and sustainability and when I saw the postgraduate options in the Welsh School of Architecture, I knew the modules offered on the MSc Sustainable Megabuildings course would best fit my interests.
The architecture department is also one of the best in the UK, which I knew would help me improve my future career opportunities and learning.
What advice would give someone going through the application process now?
Be as organised as possible. Keep a checklist or an Excel spreadsheet for all the requirements on the application form, and give proper attention to eligibility criteria and course-specific requirements.
Also, remember to check all the application and scholarship deadlines. In the event of any query, remember you can contact the Admissions team directly or reach out to the International Office, they are always happy to help.
What are you enjoying most about your course?
I was looking for a specialty in the field of architecture. My course fits my interest and the way I wanted to move forward in Megastructures.
The lectures are both indoors and outdoors which establishes a connection to the professional world.
The way of studying is different from what I was used to but it has been a great challenge. The course is more research-based and requires us to critically analyse situations which also is good as we are learning new techniques and better solutions to real-world problems in the field.
What are you enjoying most about studying at Cardiff University?
It's been wonderful making new friends and networking with professionals from various fields during my time here. I have also learned a lot from attending guest lectures and the services provided by the University, especially in the Student's Union, have been really helpful.
I've enjoyed regular personal tutoring sessions which has helped with my academic studies. The Residence Life team helped me settle into my accommodation, the International Office is there to help international students during the application process and the Student Futures team provides great career and employability advice.
What is the best thing about living in Cardiff?
I love that Cardiff is a friendly, walkable, and green city. Bute Park is at the heart of the city centre and offers scenic views after a busy day of studying - anyone coming to Cardiff should experience the city's green spaces.
Make the most of everything Cardiff University and the city has to offer you!
