Paying your English for University Study Programme fees

Your tuition fee will depend on the number of terms you have chosen to study.

A full tuition fee deposit of £2,550 is required from all new self funded students intending to join the English for University Study Programme in May 2025.

When to pay
Payment must be made within 7 days of the offer issue date, or the day before the course is due to start, whichever is the earliest. Payment must be made before a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies) can be issued.
Missed Deadlines
Your offer may be withdrawn if the deposit is not paid by the deadline specified in your offer letter.
It may be possible to retain your place even if you miss the deposit payment deadline. However, we are not obliged to honour the place for offer holders who fail to meet the deposit deadline.
Extensions
If you are unable to pay the deposit within 7 days of receiving your offer, you may request an extension by emailing elp_finance@cardiff.ac.uk. If places are still available on your chosen programme of study, your request for an extension will normally be granted. However, the duration of the extension will be dependent on the demand for places and the programme start date.
How to pay
We accept the following method of payment:
Direct bank transfers
Please read this information carefully to help you pay your English for University Study Programme fees by bank transfer.
You must ensure you follow the instructions on this page to allow us to trace your bank transfer payment.
- You must include the following information in the payment:
- Student number - if you do not put this, we will not know that you have paid
- Student full name
- English for University Study Programme course code:
- BF106
- You will need to check how much your bank will charge for the bank transfer and include it in your payment. All bank charges must be covered by your payment transfer.
- Please transfer only your course fees.
- Do not include your accommodation fee.
- Do not include your undergraduate or postgraduate tuition fees.
- After payment, please send us a copy of your bank transfer receipt to elp_finance@cardiff.ac.uk.

Some of the above methods may incur bank charges which vary depending on your country, but are usually between £5 and £20. Please ensure you allow extra money for any bank charges when paying your fees.
We do not accept payment by cash, bank draft (cheque) or travellers’ cheques.
Sponsored students
If someone else is paying your fees, you must provide evidence of this.
Proof of sponsorship of the course which includes a financial guarantee letter must be sent by email before or at enrolment to elp_finance@cardiff.ac.uk.
Sponsor letters and financial guarantees must:
- be on headed paper from a recognised sponsor or funding body
- include your full name and date of birth
- include the date
- include the programme you are applying to
- be signed/stamped by the recognised sponsor or funding body
- include the academic year(s) the funding is for
- include the full amount of fees being covered
Cancellation and refunds
Deposit payment cooling-off period for the English for University Study Programme
Upon paying your deposit there will be a 14-day cooling-off period from the date the payment was made. During the 14-day cooling-off period you may request a deposit refund by contacting us at elp_finance@cardiff.ac.uk upon receipt of which your deposit will be returned within 30 working days minus any bank or transfer charges that were charged by the payment service you used.
If you enrol within the 14-day cooling-off period, the cooling-off period will cease at the point of enrolment, at which point the EfUS deposit refund policy for withdrawal after enrolment will apply. If you withdraw from the University more than two weeks after enrolment, you will (as per the standard Cardiff University Tuition Fee policy) be charged a pro-rata tuition fee based on number of weeks enrolled.
