TRANSMANGO: Assessment of the impact of drivers of change on Europe's food and nutrition security
TRANSMANGO is an interdisciplinary research project that focuses on the vulnerability and resilience of European food systems in the context of socio-economic, behavioural, technological, institutional and agro-ecological change.
The project aims to obtain a comprehensive picture of the effects of the global drivers of change (climate, economic concentration and market structure, financial power, and property rules and consumption matters) on European and global food demand, raw material production and, consequently, on food flows. The project will identify directions for European policies that aim to tackle these multiple challenges.
The focus of TRANSMANGO is on the structures and dynamics that will likely characterise the food system in the future. These will be identified through the involvement of a wide range of stakeholders and the adoption of a systematic approach to examining food systems. The project is granted by the EU 7th Framework Programme under the theme ‘Assessment of the impact of global drivers of change on Europe’s food security’.
