Following graduation from Cardiff University I joined the then Metastasis and Angiogenesis Research Group to undertake a PhD studentship in prostate cancer, funded by Cancer Research Wales. After successfully attaining my PhD, I have continued to work within the Metastasis and Angiogenesis Research Group and the Cardiff China Medical Research Collaborative as a Research Fellow and Group Leader. My research focuses on Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF) signaling and the importance of the cytoskeletal associated protein Epithelial Protein Lost In Neoplasm (EPLIN) in cancer metastasis and assocaited therapeutic potentials. My current research focuses on the mechanisms involved in prostate and breast cancer cell homing to the bone environment.
I also have an interest in the biology of wound healing and its links with cancer, and I am involved in several projects exploring potential key factors in wound healing.
