I started my PhD at CCMRC in October 2013. I previously studied at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) where I did a BSc and a Master degree in biology. This gave me the opportunity to conduct a one-year project in lung cancer for my Master’s thesis. I then undertook an MRes in Biomedical Research at Imperial College London where I had training in the study of molecular pathways, angiogenesis signalling and genetic manipulation. I am currently working on a project focussed on angiogenesis signalling in breast cancer metastasis in order to understand what triggers cancer cell proliferation in a distant organ after a period of dormancy.
