I started my PhD with the CCMRC in October 2014 to work on a project entitled “Functional Role of Epithelial Protein Lost in Neoplasm (EPLIN) in Prostate Cancer Metastasis”. I graduated from Cardiff School of Biosciences in 2011 with a BSc in Biochemistry where I carried out my first research project and was introduced to basic techniques in molecular biology. Since undergrad, I worked in Industry for 2.5 years for an immunoassay development company and also spent 8 months at Swansea University where I further developed my research skills in molecular biology/genetics. I am looking forward to building confidence in this area of cancer research, specifically looking at EPLIN and how it’s implicated in cancer progression. I hope to make a genuine contribution to this area of science.
