Ser Cymru, the National Research Network in Health and Life Sciences is launched
5 Medi 2013
Ser Cymru is a £50M scheme launched by Professor John Harris, Wales' Chief Scientific Officer, to enhance and build on the research capacity in Wales, to attract world leading scientists and their teams, and to support the establishment of three National Research Networks (NRNs).
Cardiff University will run the Life Sciences Resource Network Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government, with our partners in the Universities of Aberystwyth, Bangor and Swansea.
The Network will be lead by Professor Chris McGuigan of the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Professor Malcolm Mason from the School of Medicine.
The focus of the network will be drug discovery and development for unmet medical needs. All stages of drug discovery are included, and all diseases.
The network aims to co-fund up to 100 PhDs and 30 fellows over the period 2014-19.
