Adult learners celebrate award success at special ceremony
5 Rhagfyr 2015
Over 200 guests joined in the celebration our students collected certificates and prizes presented by Professor Elizabeth Treasure, Deputy Vice Chancellor at the annual awards ceremony.
Every year thousands of adults across south east Wales and beyond enrol on modules at the Centre and many decide to use their credits towards an award.
Some students, such as Fatma Pinar John then decide to progress onto a degree.
Fatma completed the Pathway to Business Management in 2014 and is pictured receiving her Foundation Certificate from Professor Treasure.
“Every time I attended my classes, I always felt that I was in the right place to pursue my dream! Everyone in the centre from tutors to administrators are dedicated to their job and give constant student support. Their professional attitude gave me courage, confidence and joy during my studies. I have become an academic-oriented individual who enjoys educational challenges.”
Dr Zbig Sobiesierski, Dean of Continuing & Professional Education commented “This is a great opportunity to celebrate with our students whilst highlighting the breadth of activity the Centre provides. We aim to support and facilitate quality, accessible and flexible higher education for a diverse range of communities, individuals and organisations. Perhaps better known for our prospectus of courses for the public, Choices, the opportunities available have continued to evolve over time to include a range of widening access and professional development activities, which now include Pathways to Degrees.”
A variety of subject are available to study including: business and management, computer studies, humanities, international relations and politics, law, languages, science and environment and social science.
