Pathway to a Degree in Politics and International Relations

A new opportunity for adults to study Politics and International Relations has been launched by the Centre for Lifelong Learning.

The Pathway to a Degree in Politics and International Relations will enablestudents to fulfil their ambition of studying an undergraduate degree, by receiving support and expert tuition to harness their skills.

To begin the Pathway students will need to enrol on the core modules "How Wales Works" and "1989: A Pivotal Year for Europe". The Politics and International Relations pathway is equivalent to 50% of the first year of a degree, and is intended to provide students with the skills and knowledge needed to study a degree in International Relations and Politics at Cardiff University.

Jan Stephens, Co-ordinator of the Politics and International Relationspathway, said: "This Pathway will attract an interesting range of students from diverse backgrounds. The topics studied are particularly relevant to the lives and careers of people in Wales and will provide an exciting insight into issues in Wales, the EU, and beyond."

Professor Peter Sutch, Head of the Department of Politics and International Relationscommented: "The Department of Politics and International Relations is very excited at the launch of Pathways to Politics and International Relations Programme. Working in partnership with the exceptional staff and students of the Centre for Lifelong Learning opens up new avenues to the study of politics."

Dr Zbig Sobiesierski, Dean of Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning, added: "By working with colleagues across the University, the Cardiff Centre for Lifelong Learning has been able to develop a range of pathways that widen access to undergraduate degrees. We are delighted to introduce this new pathway to a degree in Politics and International Relations."
