Research Institute Forges More European Links
9 Rhagfyr 2014
Dr Richard Clarkson, Senior Lecturer in the European Cancer Stem Cell Research Institute, visited the Institute of Molecular Pathology and Immunology (IPATIMUP) at the University of Porto in September to forge new collaborations and to disseminate information on the Institute's portfolio. The principal objective was to offer the opportunity for senior researchers at IPATIMUP to make links with researchers at the Institute, providing inter-institutional training for PhD students and early career post-docs.
The visit formalised the first two collaborations with 2 laboratories at IPATIMUP which included a sabbatical for first year PhD student, Dan Turnham, to spend 2 months in Porto to work on a joint project.
Director of the IPATIMUP, Professor Manuel Sobrinho Simões was impressed with the information shared by Dr Clarkson on this initial visit, saying:- "I think he did a superb seminar and we all learned a lot. This is an excellent opportunity and we are pleased to go ahead with the collaboration."
