Association of Anglican Musicians elects Alumnus

The Association of Anglican Musicians (AAM) is a group of Episcopalian/Anglican musicians that provides professional support, training and networking for its membership.The Association's purpose is for the elevation, stimulation and support of music and the allied arts in all their aspects in the Anglican church.

Paul, who teaches musicology at San Jose State and San Francisco State Universities, will serve a four-year term with AAM: one year as Vice President, two years as President, and a final year as Immediate Past President. He will be installed as President next summer in Winchester during the 2017 UK conference.

He commented on his recent post, saying, "I feel deeply honoured to have been elected to serve the Association of Anglican Musicians as Vice President, an organization whose ideals I hold so dear."

In addition to his post with AAM, Paul has also been promoted to the position of Editor of The Beethoven Journal, the award-winning biannual periodical of the American Beethoven Society based at the San José State University in California. He is only the second person to hold this position, having served as Associate Editor since 2010.

Paul completed his PhD in the School of Music in 2010. "I feel extremely fortunate to have studied at Cardiff University, where I completed a PhD in musicology under the expert guidance of Professor David Wyn Jones," he said. "My thesis, The Key to Beethoven: Connecting Tonality and Meaning in His Music, was subsequently published by Pendragon Press in 2014."
