Hacks and hackers to tell digital stories
8 Tachwedd 2016
The launch event for Hacks/Hackers’ South Wales by South West chapter will take place this Wednesday evening.
The event, which will be co-sponsored by Cardiff University’s MSc in Computational and Data Journalism, will bring together like-minded journalists and programmers with a passion for the future of news.
The worldwide organisation Hacks/Hackers brings together journalists who use technology to find and tell stories and hackers who explore technologies to filter and visualise information.
Speaking at the event will be Darren Waters, Managing Editor, Publishing at the Office for National Statistics and Robert McKenzie, Editor, BBC News Labs.
MSc Computational and Data Journalism co-Director Glyn Mottershead is one of the local organisers. He said, “Hacks/Hackers is all about getting journalists and technologists together to think about the future of news.
“This first meeting in Cardiff is aimed at getting people together to build a network which spans South Wales and the South West and to help play a part in the next generation of news in our region.”
The event is free to attend and will take place at Tramshed Tech, a new co-working space in the centre of Cardiff focused on the Tech and Creative industries, from 19:30-21:30. Further details can be found on Facebook.
