Adult Learners’ Week

Do you want to start a new career or improve your job prospects? Perhaps you're interested in learning a language, or studying towards a degree?

During Adult Learners' Week 2013 (18-24 May 2013), Cardiff University's Centre for Lifelong Learning will be running a programme for people of all ages to introduce them to the benefits of lifelong learning.

Events include: computer programming, Chinese language, Chinese Culture, French and German language taster sessions for business, and a talk by Eileen Younghusband, who began her working life in the Filter Room in WWII and went on to write several books. She has been a student at the Centre for Lifelong Learning for more than 17 years and was recently awarded a British Empire Medal for her services and commitment to lifelong learning.

Co-ordinators from the Centre's flagship Pathways programme will also be on hand with information about studying towards a degree in subjects including: history, archaeology or religion; social science; business management; accounting and finance: modern languages and translation.

Dr Catherine Chabert, Co-Dean of Lifelong Learning said: "Adult Learners' Week aims to encourage participation in different kinds of learning, whether that's to improve prospects in a current role, start a new career, or to learn just for fun. The programme of events at the Centre for Lifelong Learning will give adults of all ages a chance to find out about the courses we offer and how they can study at times convenient to them."

The Centre for Lifelong Learning provides more than 500 part-time courses in a variety of subjects offering flexible learning to adults of all ages. It also runs a range of short professional development courses as well as bespoke training designed to raise skill levels and equip people with the latest information and techniques relevant to their line of work.
