Pro Vice-Chancellor recognised by Chwarae Teg

Professor Karen Holford FREng, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Physical Sciences and Engineering, has been recognised with the NPTC Group Award for Education by Chwarae Teg.
Chwarae Teg (meaning ‘Fair Play’ in English) is a charity which seeks to support the social and economic development of women in Wales, and hosted its annual Womenspire Awards at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama on 14th April.
Professor Holford was amongst hundreds of nominees shortlisted at the end of January, and progressed to win one of thirteen awards given out on the night.
The accolade is the latest recognition of Professor Holford’s twenty-five years in academia, having previously been named Welsh Woman of the Year in Science and Technology in 2006 and awarded the WISE (Women into Science and Engineering) Excellence Award the following year.
She remains an active researcher in the field of the field of acoustic emissions and their use in high frequency sensors across a range of structures, and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2015.
The award was supported by the NPTC (formerly Neath Port Talbot College) Group, a further education institution with eleven campuses in Wales.
