Working with Meritor to create eMobility training video series
20 Hydref 2022
The CPD Unit is working with University academics across several academic Schools and the Learning and Teaching Academy, to create a suite of online training videos on eVehicles and eMobility, aimed at all existing and new staff across the Meritor organisation.
The virtual training content is focused on incorporating interactive content underpinned by cutting-edge research, and has been led by the School of Engineering, supported by Cardiff Business School, School of Computer Science and Informatics, and the School of Psychology. Content is practically focused and uses real-life examples from the commercial vehicle manufacturing sector and more widely. There will be 10 20-minute videos, covering 5 subject areas of key importance to Meritor. Training has been carefully designed to be accessible to all Meritor staff, regardless of seniority, role or sector, and covers areas such as legislation, vehicle architecture and EV infrastructure.
The CPD Unit and Learning and Teaching Academy have been instrumental in supporting the programme. The CPD Unit organised in-person pilot sessions with staff from across Meritor, representing areas as diverse as engineering, finance and HR. These sessions were designed to allow staff to provide live feedback to academics, and to ensure that proposed sessions closely align to Meritor's business aims. In addition, Kieran O'Rourke (Chief Engineer, eMobility for Europe and APAC) attended one-to-one sessions with academics to provide further feedback on each session.
The CPD Unit and Learning and Teaching Academy are currently working together to edit each video, working on areas such as subtitling, branding and signposting to additional resources, as well as finessing content to focus on key areas of interest to Meritor.
