Project Sepsis to hold Sepsis in the Digital Age webinar to mark World Sepsis Day 2022

A University research group is inviting the public to mark World Sepsis Day 2022 by attending a live webinar, to explore the advances in medical technology that are helping to diagnose and treat the condition.

Project Sepsis is a Cardiff University research collaboration across medicine and science disciplines that addresses an urgent medical need for recognising and accurately detecting infection underlying sepsis - “blood poisoning” - in extremely vulnerable populations of the very young and old. The symptoms of sepsis can be subtle and initially present similarly to other conditions, and 5 people die with sepsis every hour in the UK.

To mark World Sepsis Day on 13th September, the Sepsis in the Digital Age webinar will be focused on how computing and digital techniques can improve the early recognition and treatment of life-threatening conditions such as sepsis.  From mathematical modelling to VR simulation tools, the session held over Zoom aims to help viewers learn more about the developments in technology that could revolutionise the diagnosis and treatment of the condition. Featuring video presentations from sepsis survivors and experts in the fields of virtual reality, health informatics and mathematics, the webinar aims to showcase the exciting new developments in this field and provoke discussion around how to recognise the early signs of sepsis and save lives. There will also be an opportunity to take part in a live Q&A session.
