Business School joins responsible management education initiative

Cardiff Business School announces that it has signed up to the Principles for Responsible Management Education initiative.

Established in 2007, the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative is the first organised relationship between the United Nations and business schools.

Cardiff Business School is the fourth Welsh institution to join the initiative which has over 60 UK institutions amongst its membership.

Dean of the Business School, Professor Martin Kitchener says: ‘I’m delighted that we have signed up to the PRME initiative. The organisation’s mission to inspire and champion responsible management education aligns with our ambition to become the world’s first public value business school, placing social improvement as well as economic development at the heart of our teaching and research.”

Further aligning the two visions of the newly collaborating organisations, PRME expresses its conviction that “academic institutions, through integrating universal values into curriculum and research, can contribute to a more stable and inclusive global market and help build prosperous and thriving societies”.

The PRME Secretariat is housed in the UN Global Compact Office and its cause is recognised by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as having the capacity to “take the case for universal values and business into classrooms on every continent”.
