CITER's Primary School Outreach January to March 2019
20 Mawrth 2019
CITER's Primary and Secondary Schools outreach programme for the 2019/2020 academic year began in January. Between January to March CITER engaged with eight primary schools in the Cardiff areas thus delivered a selection of activities to three hundred thirty two primary school children.
We visited some schools twice and positively continue to return year on year. All our volunteers are STEM Ambassadors who enthuse children about science related topics.
January was a busy month as we visited two schools; Victoria Primary School and Oakfield Primary School, attended 2nd Rhiwbina Beaver evening and hosted Sully Primary School as part of their visit to the School of Healthcare Sciences where they participated in the "virtual rehabilitation movement games".
In February we visited three schools including Pen-y-Bryn Primary School, Albert Primary School and returned to Victoria Primary School. The visit at Albert Primary School was part of the schools after school STEM club.
The schools in March included Christ The King R.C Primary School and Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof and the bones and organs activity proved to be popular at both visits.
The general feedback from schools has been very positive and encouraging in the service we are providing. Many thanks to our brilliant volunteers for their time and enthusing children about science. We have many more Primary School visits planned for the year and members from the CITER Soc Committee will attend a Secondary School event for the first time in April.
