Cognitive Behaviour Therapies programme reaccredited
10 Ionawr 2019
Our Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT) programme has been reaccredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), the lead organisation for CBT in the UK.
The programme, which is designed for those currently working in mental health, is currently the only BABCP accredited CBT course in Wales and focuses on core competencies in working with depression and anxiety. This renewed accreditation demonstrates that our CBT course meets the high standards set by BABCP, it also enables our lecturers to take personal responsibility for up keeping standards for ongoing supervision and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
The BABCP panel noted that there were many examples of excellent practice on the programme. They said: “The commitment and motivation of the core team was outstanding and it is clear that the teaching team are very experienced and competent, with a good balance of skills training and theoretical content. Clinical supervisors are very positive about the training with students learning what they need to deliver competent CBT. Another example of quality is the use of research informed practice with good and consistent feedback from tutors”.
Course leader, Dr Louise Waddington said: I am delighted with this BABCP reaccreditation. Our CBT course provides mental health staff with robust clinical skills in an evidence based therapy and this accreditation further reinforces our position as one of the UK’s leading centres for CBT training.
