Small business Saturday is supported by the December Grangetown World Market
14 Rhagfyr 2018
Sixteen stall holders braved the elements to support Small Business Saturday at the December Grangetown World Market.
The cold was kept at bay by some hot hot hot chilli concoctions from Chilli of the Valley and some spicy dishes from Women Connect First. We were all also very thankful for Shaun and his Coffee 2 Go bike!
The range of goods for sale was spectacular, from beautiful jewellery, Christmas decorations, hand knitted items, hampers, sweets and perfume to delicious baked goods, food and drink. There were also two Cardiff University activities for people to enjoy in the community room at the Grangetown Hub; tile making for the new Grange Pavilion lead by Sophie, a 5th year Architecture student and interactive Discovering the Severn Estuary activities lead by Owain Masters of the Severn Estuary Partnership.
Despite the rain and the wind, spirits were high and there was a fun, festive feel to the day.
Thanks once again to Riverside Market for supporting with the stalls and to St Patrick's Primary School for letting us use the car park to host the market. Huge congratulations to residents Steve Duffy and Mandy Attwell for organising yet another brilliant shop local event in Grangetown and, of course, a massive thank you to volunteers Sheila, Eleanor and Lauren who were invaluable in helping out in the run-up to the market and on the day and to the six volunteers from Good Gym Cardiff who came straight from a run to help with a litter pick and set out all of the tables and chairs. Team work in action!
The next market will be in the spring and we look forward to seeing many more stalls offering opportunities for local small businesses and entrepreneurs to promote and sell their wares.
