Take part in our lens trial and get a free pair of spectacles

We are looking for volunteers to take part in a new spectacle lens trial. All volunteers who take part will be eligible for a free pair of spectacles from our Eye Clinic.

If you are interested in volunteering for this study, we will invite you to the Eye Clinic to provide you with more details and check to see if you meet the inclusion criteria. You will either need to have an up-to-date spectacle prescription or have a free eye examination at our Eye Clinic.

If you are eligible for the study, you will be asked to choose three identical spectacle frames from a pre-selected range at no cost. These frames will be worn with three different sets of lenses for approximately 2 weeks each. After wearing each pair of spectacles you will be asked to comment on the quality of vision through them and you will also be asked to complete a short questionnaire. Your vision will also be tested through each pair of spectacles at distance and near (using a letter chart).

This study will involve a total of 5 visits to the Eye Clinic. The first visit will take up to 1 hour and the subsequent visits will last about 20 minutes.

At the end of the study you will be allowed to keep the first pair of spectacles for no cost.

Lens trial prerequisites:

• Aged between 41 and 70 years old
• Currently wear varifocal lenses
• Have an up to date prescription or have a free eye examination at our Eye Clinic.
• Able to visit our eye clinic five times during the trial
