Student-led enterprise wins SPARK business award
5 Gorffennaf 2017
CAUKIN studio, set up by current and former Welsh School of Architecture students, has won the “Best Venture” prize at an annual business ideas competition set up by Cardiff University. The SPARK awards set out to inspire and motivate the University’s most entrepreneurial students and graduates by awarding funding and support across a range of categories.
CAUKIN studio is a student-led social enterprise that designs and constructs community builds in Southeast Asia and the Pacific. They provide local communities with resources whilst also giving students and young professionals hands-on learning experience.
Josh Peasley (BSc/MArch Architecture), co-founder of the studio, said: “We are delighted to have won the SPARK best venture category and can’t wait to get to work with the Enterprise and Start-up Team to develop our business even further. Having come from an architectural background, with no formal education in business at all, entering SPARK really pushed us to develop our ideas from a business perspective, and we’ve learnt so much in doing so!”
The students also won the People’s Choice vote at the Santander Entrepreneurship Award Regionals.
