CITER exhibits at STEMLive! 2018
4 Gorffennaf 2018
The University held their annual STEMLive! event on 28 June at the National Museum Cardiff targeted at Year 8 children (aged 12 to 13). Sixteen schools attended bringing groups from across SE Wales including Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Caerphilly county and Vale of Glamorgan.
The theme of the event was "mission to mars" whereby the children used STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) related activities to learn some of the skills needed to setup a new colony on another planet.
CITER demonstrated how maggots can help in space with wound healing. The groups of children had an opportunity to race maggots showcasing science related topics in a fun and engaging way with hands on activities.
Many thanks for our volunteers Eleanor Feneck and Ian Boostrom for paticipating at this event. If you are interested in participating in next years public engagement events please contact
