Online course: An Introduction to Dermoscopy

If you’re a doctor involved in the care of dermatology patients with skin lesions, you may be interested in developing your skills with our 12-week online CPD course An Introduction To Dermoscopy.

Dermoscopy is a non-invasive, widely used diagnostic tool that aids the diagnosis of skin lesions and is proven to increase the accuracy of melanoma diagnosis.

This is an entirely online course, giving you the freedom and flexibility to study when and where it suits you. It’s a great opportunity to develop your professional skills in this important field.

Who is it for?

This course is specifically designed for doctors already involved in dermatology who are interested in the management of benign and malignant skin lesions, or who wish to develop their skills in dermoscopy.

When does the course run?

The course is online and runs twice a year, in September and March. The next course begins on 3 September 2018. You can find out more, and book online here.

What will I learn?

Participants will learn to develop competency in using a dermatoscope to:

• differentiate melanocytic from non-melanocytic skin lesions
• differentiate malignant from non-malignant skin lesions
• assist in the early diagnosis of melanoma
• assist in management decisions relating to pigmented skin lesions
• assist in the diagnosis of some non-melanocytic skin lesions

You will study six modules written by leading dermatologists in the field of dermoscopy, completing one topic every two weeks. You can find out more about the topics covered on this course here.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered eligible, applicants must fulfil all the following critera:

• hold a medical degree
• see patients with skin lesions regularly
• have an excellent command of English
• own or have access to a computer with high speed internet.
