The Professor U. R. Q. Henriques Scholarships fund provides support for self-funded postgraduate students within three Schools in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at the University thanks to the generous gift of the eminent scholar Professor Ursula Henriques (1914-2008). Professor Henriques was a member of staff in the Department of History and Welsh History, University College Cardiff for more than 20 years until her departure in 1981. Working in both medieval and modern history, her major works include Theory of Religious Toleration in England, 1787-1833 (1961) and Before the Welfare State: Social Administration in Early Industrial Britain (1979).
Now in its 16th year, the legacy rotates annually between the Schools of English, Communication and Philosophy, History, Archaeology and Religion, and Modern Languages thanks to the original gift of £100,000.
