The School of Optometry and Vision Sciences has won the coveted ‘School of the Year’ at this year’s Celebrating Excellence Awards.
The Awards, which took place this year on Thursday 9th November, are held annually and reward individual, team and collaborative achievements through a range of award categories.
By winning ‘School of the Year’, The School of Optometry has demonstrated excellence and outstanding improvement across the board.
There were several criteria in which the school was judged and the award organisers commended the school by saying “The School of Optometry has achieved outstanding student results this year. Its undergraduate degree programmes remain oversubscribed in the face of increasing competition and graduates consistently outperform other UK Schools with student satisfaction consistently among the highest in the University.”
They went on to explain how “Undergraduate success is due to an ambitious programme design that is reinforced by the School’s occupation of first place in The Complete University Guide for 2017 and 2018, and its 100% employment rate for graduates.”
Professor Marcela Votruba, Head of School was delighted with the award and commented, “This is a fantastic achievement and a fitting tribute to the hard work and excellent achievements across the whole School over the last year. Congratulations and well done to everyone at the School.”
The School also had finalists short-listed across 5 sections overall, reflecting the huge diversity of excellence in many areas of School life.
