Chrissie is from Aberystwyth and at sixteen went to London to study music for seven years, first with a Government scholarship to the Purcell School, to study with Detlef Hahn, then to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she continued her studies with Detlef and Erika Klemperer, graduating with a BMus, distinction in performance.
Chrissie then won a scholarship to the RWCMD, graduating with an MMus, distinction in performance. In 2004 she was awarded a Junior Fellowships in Chamber Music from RWCMD and in 2010 the Charles Mackerras Junior Fellowship in Orchestral Leadership.
Chrissie is a regular 1st violin extra with the Welsh National Opera Orchestra and has performed in all the major music venues in the UK. Chrissie is the founder member and leader of the Mavron Quartet which, since 2010, has held the position of the first ever Ensemble in Residence at St David’s Hall, the National Concert Hall of Wales.
Enjoying the diversity of freelancing, Chrissie has worked and toured with artists such as Kanye West, Alfie Boe and Michael Ball and performed for members of the royal family, performing as far afield as Dubai and Hong Kong. Chrissie is also the Artistic Director of Cosmic Music, a charity aimed at promoting the art and science of chamber music.
Chrissie is a regular adjudicator for the Rotary Club Young Musician of the Year and local competitions. Since 2018, Chrissie has enjoyed being a violin tutor at Cardiff University. That same year, Chrissie received an Honorary Associate Award from RWCMD, the first of its kind, for her work in music.
