Mae darlithoedd grŵp mawr yn chwarae rôl sylweddol ym mhrofiad dysgu myfyrwyr ym Mhrifysgol Caerdydd. Wrth i addysgeg dynnu mwy o sylw at bwysigrwydd dulliau ddysgu sy'n canolbwyntio ar fyfyrwyr, yn aml, ystyrir mai addysgu grŵp mawr yw un o heriau mwyaf byd Addysg Uwch.
Mae’r pwnc yn cynnig enghreifftiau o arferion gorau wrth addysgu grwpiau mawr, o ran astudiaethau achos o arfer sefydledig a hefyd fel theori addysgeg annibynnol, sy’n rhoi dysgu mewn cyd-destun cymdeithasol. Mae syniadau creadigol sy'n caniatáu i fyfyrwyr gymryd rhan fwy gweithredol mewn darlithoedd yn cael eu harchwilio; yn cynnwys enghreifftiau penodol sy'n anelu at ddangos sut y gall grwpiau mawr o fyfyrwyr gael eu defnyddio fel adnodd yn hytrach na'u hystyried yn her.
