Insight Journal (paediatric palliative care)
Mae'r cynnwys hwn ar gael yn Saesneg yn unig.
Creating opportunities for sharing best practice in contemporary paediatric palliative care.
Contemporary paediatric palliative care is an emerging speciality and the evidence base is substantially less than its adult counterpart. Therefore opportunities for sharing best practice are limited.
Based on this Mandy Brimble, Lecturer, School of healthcare Sciences, formulated the idea for the ‘Insight’ journal in conjunction with practice colleagues and Ty Hafan children’s hospice. The journal was launched in 2014 and is a bi- annual publication.
Reach
The journal is distributed by practice partners ‘Ty Hafan’ to over 800 healthcare professionals throughout the UK.
Collaboration with library colleagues at Cardiff University, Heath Campus has also facilitated distribution of the journal to clinicians working in the NHS and University healthcare libraries throughout Wales.
Impact
Publications included in the Journal allow best practice, in this speciality, to be disseminated within clinical practice so improving the quality of lives within this population of children.
Mandy works as editor of the journal and an academic associate to Ty Hafan. As part of this role she has worked with a number of clinical practice colleagues to nurture their writing skills, which facilitates their ability to publish research and clinical experience. This has resulted in a number of publications, many of which have been adapted from academic pieces of work.
Examples of the journal can be downloaded for Volume 4 Issue 2 and Volume 5 Issue 1.
