The Energy Systems Research Institute was open between 2015 and 2021. This page shows the Institute’s past work. It is not monitored or updated.
Sustainable future energy systems will require new regulations, frameworks, and business models, as well as complex systems which bring together different technologies to work in harmony. Only interdisciplinary, systems-based approaches can consider this problem in its entirety.
The diversity of expertise and knowledge of our staff enables us to examine and research energy systems from a variety of perspectives, including engineering, economics, planning, and computing.
Specific topics of research include:
- economics of energy systems and system change
- carbon foot-printing
- sustainable transport
- policy for sustainable energy and system change
- high voltage research with power and aerospace sectors
- behaviour change.
We work with a wide range of government and industry stakeholders so that academic research can meet real-world scenarios and generate meaningful impact.
